Gabe's Journey Towards Body Confidence

My journey with The Swole Kitchen has been nothing short of transformative. Before starting with TSK, I had been about 8 months into my fitness journey, receiving some fitness and nutrition guidance through a local CrossFit gym. However, I constantly struggled with body image and finding a balance between my nutrition goals and family commitments, especially on the weekends.

I discovered The Swole Kitchen through the Swolverine website and was encouraged to seek a different perspective than what I was getting at my CrossFit gym. Deciding to give TSK a shot was one of the best decisions I've made for my health and fitness.

Working with Jocelyn, my coach, was a game-changer. She not only helped me balance my fitness and nutrition goals with my family obligations but also taught me that I could eat more than I was and still lose fat. This shift in my mindset was incredible—eating more even helped me set new personal records for deadlift, back squat, and bench press. I was also able to conquer my first rope climb and fuel my body properly during my first local CrossFit competition.

The biggest obstacle I had to overcome was trusting the process. Growing up, I was always told that to lose weight, you had to eat less. Jocelyn completely turned that belief on its head, showing me that most people, including myself, are under-eating. This revelation was the most impactful lesson I learned during my time with her.

Jocelyn's influence has been profound. She has inspired me so much that I’m now pursuing my PN Level 1 certification, with the hope of helping others who might be starting their fitness journey from a place similar to where I started.

Now that my coaching program is over, I feel more confident in my body and lifestyle than ever before. I’ve gained the tools I need to continue my body recomposition journey while balancing my goals with family life. I’m no longer afraid to take my shirt off in public, which is something I never thought I’d be comfortable with.

I absolutely loved working with Jocelyn! Our weekly check-ins were something I looked forward to every time. Even during tough weeks, she was always positive and left me feeling inspired. If I ever need coaching again, I’ll definitely return to work with her.
