Nutritionist and Nutrition Coach in Reno, NV
Looking for a nutritionist in Reno who works with busy people, not just athletes with unlimited time? I'm Alix Best, a certified nutritionist with a B.S. in Public Health and Precision Nutrition certification, and I've been coaching 1:1 nutrition and training for more than 10 years. I live in Reno and grew up in the Lake Tahoe basin, so I know what eating well looks like here.
Coaching is 100% online through the Trainerize app, so I work with founders, executives and busy professionals across Reno, Sparks, Carson City and Lake Tahoe, plus clients anywhere in the U.S. Every client works with me directly. There is no team handing you off.
Who I work with in Reno
- Busy professionals who travel, entertain clients and eat out, and need a plan that survives real life.
- People with 10 to 50+ pounds to lose who are done with crash diets and want to keep the weight off.
- Lifters and active locals who ski, hike, ride and train and want to fuel performance and body composition.
- People on a GLP-1 medication who want to protect muscle and eat well. I do not give medication advice; you keep your prescriber in the loop.
- Bodybuilding and physique competitors preparing for a show.
How coaching works
| Step | What happens |
|---|---|
| 1. Free consult | We talk through your goals, schedule, history and what has and hasn't worked. |
| 2. Your plan | Custom calories and macros, or a custom meal plan, plus a training program if you choose that tier. |
| 3. Daily habits | You log food in the Trainerize app and hit a daily step target. |
| 4. Check-ins | Regular 1:1 check-ins. I review your logging, activity, sleep and progress markers before every adjustment. |
| 5. Progress | Progress markers are chosen for you: scale trend, measurements, photos or performance. |
In my coaching, most fat-loss clients average about 1 to 3 lb a week. That is an average, not a guarantee.

Eating well in Reno and Tahoe
Living here comes with its own nutrition quirks. Reno sits at about 4,500 feet and Lake Tahoe at about 6,200, and the air is dry most of the year, so many people under-drink water without noticing. Winters are built around skiing and snowboarding, summers around hiking, biking and the lake, which means your activity and calorie needs swing by season. A good plan accounts for that instead of using the same numbers in January and July.
Reno's food scene also makes eating out easy. Coaching teaches you how to order at the places you already go so a client dinner or a weekend at the lake doesn't undo your week. See how to eat healthy when eating out and high-protein fast food orders.
